Biography:
An accomplished Washington, DC artist, Mr. Woodward was classically trained at the Florentine Accademia di Belli Arti, the Corcoran School, and The American University. He studied under Ben Summerford and worked with Bernard Berenson, the renowned art connoisseur. Among his many accolades, Woodward is the only artist to design both the obverse and reverse of a United States coin for the silver dollar minted in 1989 by the U.S Treasury, commemorating the 200th anniversary of the U.S. Congress.
Woodward is the former, long-time director of the MFA program in studio arts at George Washington University. His paintings and drawings are boldly expressive works inspired by themes from the Renaissance to today.
