Damien Hirst, born in 1965, is a contemporary British artist and founder of “Young British Artists” (YBA). He explores the relationship between art and commercialism through his conceptual works featuring medical, pharmaceutical, animal and life-cycle themes. He was awarded the prestigious Turner Prize in 1995 and his works are held in the world’s most prestigious collections including that of the renowned collector, Charles Saatchi who gave Hirst his first big break. Hirst’s work can be found in many prominent museums including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, MOMA, Tate Gallery, Victoria & Albert Museum and others.
