Biography:

Lee Winslow Court was born in Somerville, MA in 1903 and is known for painting on Monhegan Island, ME and for his New England snow scenes. As an art student, he trained at the Massachusetts College of Art with such masters as Cyrus Dalin and Ernest Major, and in 1922 became a student of Aldro Hibbard’s. While he worked as an artistic designer for Filene’s Department Store for many years, he traveled all over New England, Ireland, and even in the Arctic. He was a member of Boston’s prestigious Copley Society, and according to his daughter was awarded its highest award: The John Singleton Copley Medal in 1981.
